Trump “sells” Permanent Residency “Gold Cards” to the Financially Sound

Many countries have a standard of requiring immigrants not only to be of good character but also to be “beneficial” to the new country. “Beneficial” can require significant financial merit or possessing badly needed technical skills. In short, those admitted should be clearly of benefit to the US. Our previous open borders policy allowed entry, without merit, and with no knowledge as to a migrants criminal background. This has resulted in a multibillion-dollar burden to our welfare, medical and other social systems.

Some countries, like the US now, will provide permanent residency for a significant fee. Other times it only requires a large investment in a business in that country. Either way, this ensures that the new residents will be of a financial benefit and not a burden to society.

Trump’s Gold Card program sold out of 1000 units in 24 hrs., raising $5 Billion. ($5M each!)

The left will argue that it is only humanitarian to allow the poor to come to the US for a better life. However, “humanitarian to whom? Certainly not to US citizens. By this standard, most of the world’s population would want to flood in. The US economy would be drastically diluted for all.

In Europe, unrestricted immigration has resulted in a host of additional problems. Many of their immigrants are from countries with totally different cultures, largely Muslim. Since then, violent rape has become all too common. Robbery and other criminality has become wide spread.
